Pike Silences New York, 4-0
Sunday, June 22nd , 1975
Everything clicked on the hill for Mark Pike, as he hurled the San Diego Captains to a shutout win, 4-0, over the New York Knickerbockers, limiting them to 6 hits while recording 10 strikeouts and yielding 3 walks. He overpowered some batters with fastballs and buckled knees with sharp breaking pitches.
"We had our shot at him a couple of different times," Knickerbockers manager Timothy Widholm said. "We just weren't able to get to him."
Up to now Pike has compiled an ERA of 6.01 with a 6-4 mark over 15 starts. He has 56 strikeouts in 88.1 innings and has held opponents to a .305 batting average.
