Philadelphia, Detroit Agree to Deal Monday, June 27th , 1977 It took some time to iron out the details, but the Quakers and Wolverines have agreed to a swap. Detroit will get 29-year old 3B Greg Russell with Philadelphia receiving a 3rd round draft pick in return. A source close to the trade talks said the two clubs were initially looking to make a bigger deal, but discussions broke off late last night. The two sides reconvened early today and eventually settled on this deal. During his career, Russell has hit .261 with 873 hits, 87 home runs, 391 RBIs and scored 378 runs. |
