Moreland Befuddles Brooklyn in 2-0 Washington Win Thursday, June 30th , 1977 Brooklyn were shut out, 2-0, by Rich Moreland and the Washington Eagles at Monument Field. The Bluebirds offered little resistance to Moreland, who stopped them on 3 hits, fanned 5 and walked 2. "It just felt right today," the right-handed Moreland told reporters after the win. "Even with the rain, it didn't throw me off my rhythm." Over the season Moreland has thrown 84.1 innings and dished out 54 strikeouts with a 5-5 mark and a 3.09 ERA.
