In an impressive mound performance, Pete Veirs of the Baltimore Lords checked the Los Angeles Pobladores on a 4-hitter and held them scoreless.

"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said Los Angeles manager Kurt Peterson. "Veirs kept us confused the whole game."

The Baltimore hurler rang up 10 strikeouts and issued 2 walks in his 4-0 shutout victory.

Veirs has made 26 starts this season, posting 10 wins and 7 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .255 against him and he has 157 strikeouts in 179.2 innings with a 3.11 ERA.
