Birch, Panetta Swap Clubs Thursday, July 31st , 1975 The Traders and Explorers announced a deal that was completed today. Chicago sent 27-year old RHP Randy Birch and a 2nd round draft pick to St. Louis for 32-year old RHP Bruce Shone and 29-year old LF Chuck Panetta. Both teams appear happy with the outcome of the trade. The general managers told the Baseball News Network they felt the swap was beneficial for all parties involved. For the season, Birch has a record of 7 wins and 7 losses in 20 appearances. He has an ERA of 2.30 and has fanned 78 batters in 125.1 innings. Panetta is currently hitting at a .311 pace with 11 home runs, 56 RBIs and has scored 53 times. |
