Jakubowski Struts Stuff in Win Over Montreal
Tuesday, September 19th , 1967
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
George Jakubowski of the Boston Terriers proved the point at LaSalle Stadium today, holding the Montreal Habitants to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Jakubowski made us look real bad today," Habitants manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Jakubowski had 2 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Terriers took the 7-0 win.
So far this year Jakubowski has a 12-14 record with a 3.64 ERA.
