Jerry Zaruba was in a zone of his own most of the day, shutting out the Brooklyn Bluebirds on 8 hits.

"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled Brooklyn manager John Meeker after the 1-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Industrials.

Zaruba finished with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.

In the postgame press conference, Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker said Zaruba "had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. He just pitched his butt off."

In the current season in 27 starts, Jerry Zaruba has a record of 11-6 with 66 strikeouts in 193.1 innings and a 3.31 ERA.
