American Baseball League Names Top Player Monday, August 29th , 1977 When it came to hitting the baseball, Duane Simmons was in a class by himself in the American Baseball League this past week. Nobody did it better. The outstanding first baseman for Dallas tagged opposing pitchers for a .435 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 10 hits in 23 at-bats, 4 homers, 5 runs scored and 6 RBIs. Thus far this year, Simmons is hitting .280 with 27 home runs, 74 RBIs and 80 runs scored. |
