Scherf Dominates Philadelphia

Magic was in the air and on the mound at Lakefront Stadium, as Roger Scherf held the Philadelphia Quakers spellbound in his 3-0 shutout victory. The Cleveland Bobcats pitcher went the distance, rang up 4 strikeouts, walked 1, and held the Quakers to 8 hits.
"He just had us in his thrall," Philadelphia manager Jeff Green said. "We couldn't put anything together against him."
