National Baseball League Names Rookie of Month Tuesday, June 1st, 1954 Youngster Grammercy Locke emerged as the latest National Baseball League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Cleveland deserved the honor, batting .269 with 2 home runs and 12 RBI. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Locke enjoy the limelight. In his stats this season, Locke has posted a batting average of .233 with 37 hits in 159 at-bats, 2 home runs and 15 RBIs. He has also scored 18 runs, walked 23 times and compiled a .326 OBP. |
