Industrials Heading to World Series
Wednesday, October 11th , 1967
The Pittsburgh Industrials players streamed onto the field at Allegheny Field in jubilation, while heads were hung and few words were spoken in the St. Louis Explorers clubhouse at the conclusion of the League Championship Series.

In a series that had a bit of everything and went the distance, Pittsburgh won the final game 6-5 and the series 4-3.

"It's hard to describe what we're feeling right now," said Pittsburgh right-hander Dick Witt, whose strong pitching performance in the series garnered him MVP honors. "You square off against a good team like St. Louis and anything can happen. Both teams deserved to go on, but thankfully it's us."

For the series, Witt had a 0.86 ERA over 21 innings pitched. He added 15 strikeouts with a 2-0 record.

The Pittsburgh Industrials will play against the Dallas Wranglers in the next round. Dallas won their series against the Detroit Wolverines 4 games to 2. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
