National Baseball League Honors San Diego's Barnes Friday, October 20th , 1967 The regular season is now history and it's awards time in the National Baseball League. This year's winner of the Rookie of the Year Award is 23-year-old Randy Barnes of the San Diego Captains. The talented left fielder batted .303, played in 155 games and delivered 164 hits in 541 at-bats. His totals also included 15 home runs, 66 RBIs, 71 runs scored, 22 walks and a .333 OBP. Dave Torre of the New York Knickerbockers finished second in voting, while Jamie Robinson of the Denver Burros finished third. |
