St. Louis Snaps Sledd Streak at 20
Thursday, September 15th , 1977
Chicago third baseman John Sledd experienced something against the St. Louis Explorers he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game.

The Explorers pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 20 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Traders to a 4-0 victory at Corps of Discovery Stadium.

"Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 20-game hitting streak," Sledd joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories."

Looking at his season stats, Sledd has compiled a .297 batting average and a .319 on-base percentage, while hitting 12 home runs and driving in 65 runs.
