Tuesday, September 2nd , 1975
The Montreal Habitants were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the San Francisco Seagulls and hurler Arturo Lopez. Lopez kept the Habitants confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Lopez," Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 33-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Lopez said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
Checking out his stats for the season, Lopez has notched 12 wins and 6 losses in 26 starts. His ERA is 2.67 and he's struck out 115 batters in 199 innings.
