Setback for Quakers and Vern Friend Wednesday, September 17th , 1975 Philadelphia shortstop Vern Friend reportedly suffered a setback this week while rehabilitating a separated shoulder. Preliminary tests showed the injury had gotten worse and would need more time to be completely healed. An unidentified team official said it looked like it would be at least 1-2 weeks before Friend would be able to return to the active roster. Friend will see a specialist tomorrow. This season, Friend is hitting at a .283 pace with 5 home runs, 48 RBIs and has scored 50 times. |
