No Playoff Berth Coming for New York Wednesday, September 24th , 1975 The New York Empires may still need a piece or two before becoming championship material in Major League Baseball. The team has fallen short of its playoff goals this year, being officially eliminated from the playoffs today. "I feel like we have a great group," Empires manager Dan Whiting said. "We happened to come up short or our goal, though. We'll re-tool and be back stronger next season." This is the club's 2nd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1973. In total, the Empires have missed the playoffs 23 times in their 30-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Empires have missed the playoffs 8 times. |
