John Shuts Out Atlanta, 1-0
Monday, September 3rd , 1973
Toronto's Bill John brought his best stuff to Dominion Field, shutting down and shutting out the Atlanta Generals, 1-0. He racked up 7 strikeouts, surrendered 3 hits, and issued 2 walks on his way to the victory.
"We barely made him work at all," Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie said later. "Toronto could probably pitch him again tomorrow if they wanted."
This year, John has recorded a 9-8 mark. In 26 starts he has fanned 131 batters in 179 innings with a 2.97 ERA.
