SP Coomes Lands with the Terriers Monday, February 6th , 1978 Sportswriters, fans and team officials watched today as 36-year-old starting pitcher Steve Coomes committed to a $1,068,000, 3-year deal with the Boston organization. Some openly worry that despite his talent, Coomes is too old to get it done anymore and that his value to the club will sharply diminish before the 3-year agreement has run its course. The 36-year-old Coomes has sat down 2062 batters on strikes, walked 1115 and put up a 3.06 ERA. His career won-lost record is 210-139. |
