Drillers Move on to League Championship Series Sunday, October 5th , 1975 After their 5-4 win today at Sam Houston Field over the San Francisco Seagulls, the Houston Drillers will advance to the League Championship Series. Houston won the series by a 4-1 margin. Leading the way for the Drillers was second baseman Lou Ward, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP. "I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus." The Houston Drillers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Dallas Wranglers - Detroit Wolverines series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece.
