Darnell Torches Empires for 5 Hits
Wednesday, August 30th , 1972
John Darnell of the Wranglers was unstoppable in his team's 7-2 victory over the New York Empires at Bluff Park. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.

"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Dallas shortstop after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will."

John Darnell singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Posting a .277 batting average to date, Darnell has no home runs and 41 RBIs.
