Wednesday, October 6th , 1976
Major League Baseball fans were certainly not disappointed with this American Baseball League Divisional Round.
The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Houston Drillers prevailing over the Atlanta Generals to advance to the League Championship Series.
Houston won the final game by a score of 5-3 at Sam Houston Field and that sealed the series 4-3.
"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said right fielder Jackie Frost, who earned MVP honors.
For the series, Frost hit .276 with a .323 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 6 runs.
The Houston Drillers will play against the San Francisco Seagulls in the next round. San Francisco won their series against the Baltimore Lords 4 games to 3. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Divisional Round finishes.
