Great Season For Mitchell, Wins NBL Royal Ricketts Award Monday, October 25th , 1976 The Los Angeles Blockbusters have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Larry Mitchell, this year's National Baseball League Royal Ricketts Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Mitchell compiled a 10-12 record in 34 starts, tallied 181 strikeouts in 243 innings and recorded a 2.00 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .223 batting average against him. Bobby Peters of the Chicago Traders finished second in voting, while Myron Baird of the Cleveland Bobcats finished third. |
