The Math Says - New York Out of Playoffs
Sunday, September 17th , 1972
It wasn't meant to be for the New York Empires this year. Despite a tough battle, they were eliminated from playoff contention today.
"It is a bad feeling," said Empires starting pitcher Nate Frampton. "Once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. But you've gotta get in there first, and we weren't able to do that."
This is the club's 7th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1965. In total, the Empires have missed the playoffs 21 times in their 27-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Empires have only made the playoffs once.
