Toronto Won't Make Playoffs
Sunday, September 17th , 1972
Fans in Toronto may been holding onto a glimmer of hope, but that has now been officially snuffed out -- the Hurons were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention today.
"It's a tough day for everyone in the Toronto Hurons organization," owner Dwight Carter told reporters. "We will just have to come back stronger."
This is the club's 9th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1963. In total, the Hurons have missed the playoffs 22 times in their 27-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Hurons have only made the playoffs once. Toronto last won the World Series in 1959.
