Cincinnati Eliminated from Playoff Contention
Wednesday, September 11th , 1974
Even the most die-hard fans of the Cincinnati Packers will likely now start focusing on next year. The team was today mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
"We're disappointed," said Packers shortstop Glen Bennett. "Not just for ourselves, but also for the fans that stick with us every year."
This is the club's 5th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1969. In total, the Packers have missed the playoffs 76 times in their 93-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Packers have only made the playoffs once. Cincinnati last won the World Series in 1961.
