Drillers, Castro Silence Seattle, 7-0
Wednesday, September 20th , 1972
The Houston Drillers shut out the Seattle Emeralds, 7-0, behind the strong pitching of Francisco Castro. Castro surrendered only 3 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 9.

Following the last out, Castro appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Seattle manager Mark Velez, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Castro's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.

The Emeralds skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Drillers press conference, Castro confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.

"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Castro said.

"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Houston manager Steven Palps added.

Castro has made 32 starts, tossed 237.1 innings, struck out 134 batters and walked 63. His record is 15-9 with a 2.69 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .226 batting average.
