Injury Worsens, Return Delayed for Bluebirds Mara Friday, December 17th , 1976 Yesterday Brooklyn catcher Jimmy Mara sustained a setback in his recovery from a virus. The Bluebirds medical staff told him it would be at least one week before he will be able to return to action. Mara told reporters, "The healing process has gone extremely well. This is just a little hiccup and a little setback." Apparently Mara worked a little too hard in a recent workout and caused more damage. His doctors have advised him to do only light exercise and give the injury time to heal. His career numbers show Mara is batting .237 with a total of 47 home runs. |
