Cincinnati Comes up Empty Against Scherf
Friday, September 27th , 1974
Roger Scherf was in a mood to talk following the Cleveland Bobcats contest against the Cincinnati Packers, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Packers, 1-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Scherf said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The right-hander blanked Cincinnati on a 5-hitter, allowing 2 walks and racking up 3 strikeouts.
Scherf has posted a 12-8 record for the year with a 4.09 ERA. Teams are hitting .260 against him and he has rung up 99 strikeouts in 189.1 innings.
