Reliever September's Best Hurler in ABL
Tuesday, October 1st , 1974
Sometimes relievers are treated like second class citizens, most of the time the award goes to the starters, but not this month. A reliever, Denny Boyd, has been named the Pitcher of the Month in the American Baseball League.
In September, the Baltimore relief specialist stood out with 7 saves in 16 relief appearances, a 2-0 won-lost mark and 0.72 ERA. He worked 25 innings, allowed 19 hits, struck out 15 and walked 4.
Boyd has 93 relief appearances this year with 30 saves. Boyd has also compiled a 12-10 won-lost mark with a 2.49 ERA. In 141 innings he has fanned 65.
