NBL Names Rookie of the Month Tuesday, October 1st , 1974 It was a whale of month for 24-year-old Randy Weisenberg of Chicago. He stepped up in class, monopolized batters and today reaped the reward -- the National Baseball League chose him as the Rookie of the Month. In 0 starts he fashioned a 3-0 record, worked 10 innings, allowed 6 base hits, struck out 4 and walked 4. Teams combined to hit .176 against him in September. So far, Weisenberg has earned 18 saves in 36 relief appearances. He has 21 strikeouts and 22 walks in 38 innings while registering a 4.03 ERA and a 4-4 won-lost record. |
