McLaughlin Goes 5-for-5 Against Brooklyn
Friday, April 27th , 1962
Gene McLaughlin exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Flatbush Park.

The Washington left fielder had a field day in the 5-2 triumph over the Brooklyn Bluebirds, finishing 5-for-5.

"My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."

McLaughlin must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Gene McLaughlin hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Currently McLaughlin is batting .294 with no home runs and 7 RBIs.
