San Diego Advances to League Championship Series Sunday, October 6th , 1974 The San Diego Captains are on to the League Championship Series, having knocked out the St. Louis Explorers 4-1. The final blow came tonight at San Diego Sporting Complex, where San Diego sealed the Divisional Round with a 7-2 triumph. Waymond Henry was instrumental in the series win and was given MVP honors. Henry hit .350 with a .409 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs. The San Diego Captains will play against the Pittsburgh Industrials in the next round. Pittsburgh won their series against the Philadelphia Quakers 4 games to 0. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Divisional Round finishes.
