You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Chicago and Cleveland have made a swap with 26-year old CF Larry Tipton being shipped to the Bobcats and in return the Traders would get 26-year old minor league CF Wally Beaver, 23-year old minor league RF Dave Deschamps, 20-year old minor league RHP Dave Alexander, 23-year old minor league LHP Pete Veirs, and 21-year old minor league CF Ike Griffin.

Chicago general manager Joe Placeholder said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction.

"This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines."

A source inside the Chicago organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works.

This season in 98 games, Tipton has hit at a .328 clip with 130 hits, 19 home runs, 56 RBIs and 74 runs scored.

So far on the season Beaver is hitting .305 with no home runs, 11 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has 36 hits and played in 38 games.
