Pittsburgh Shuts Out Philadelphia Behind Steinhauer, 8-0

Gene Steinhauer kept the Philadelphia Quakers hitters from doing much damage at Quakers Stadium.
Philadelphia could only muster 4 hits and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Steinhauer, who controlled them throughout the game. Pittsburgh won the contest, 8-0. Steinhauer added 6 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.
"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Steinhauer told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
Steinhauer has made 10 starts this season, posting 3 wins and 8 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .281 against him and he has 57 strikeouts in 99.1 innings with a 5.71 ERA.
