Explorers Flame Out Against Hundley, Knickerbockers
Saturday, May 11th , 1968
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Ollie Hundley of the New York Knickerbockers proved the point at Corps of Discovery Stadium today, holding the St. Louis Explorers to 4 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Hundley made us look real bad today," Explorers manager Ray Fleetwood said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Hundley had 6 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Knickerbockers took the 7-0 win.

Checking out his stats for the season, Hundley has registered 4 wins and 1 loss in 7 starts, posted a 0.55 ERA, and struck out 29 batters in 49 innings.
