Houston, C Eccles Reach Contract Agreement Friday, January 9th , 1976 The Drillers pulled out all the stops today to announce the signing of catcher Lute Eccles. The 29-year-old is one of the game's preeminent playmakers and has definitely proven why he was such an attractive signing. The contract is a 4-year deal worth $2,912,000. Eccles is batting .262 with 721 career base hits, including 107 doubles, 13 triples and 39 home runs with 276 RBIs and 354 runs scored. He has played in 871 games, stolen 80 bases and compiled a .378 OBP. |
