Shadwell Sharp in 7-0 Shutout Sunday, May 22nd , 1960 It wasn't easy but Thornton Shadwell made it look that way. Shadwell silenced the Kansas City Bulls, 7-0, in a Chicago Traders triumph at Union Field today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Shadwell said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 4 walks and 4 hits. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else." This year Shadwell has worked 55.2 innings with 27 strikeouts en route to a 3-5 record and a 5.34 ERA.
