Barnes, Drillers Too Much for Seagulls
|
The Houston Drillers and San Francisco Seagulls completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Houston Drillers topped the San Francisco Seagulls by a score of 6-4. Leading the way was left fielder Randy Barnes. Barnes went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Drillers. The winning pitcher was former first round draft pick Andy Campbell. He tossed 108 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits.
Houston used the hitting of Mark Sisson to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Drillers on top, 4-2. For the game, Sisson had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Barnes.
With the loss, San Francisco is 3-5.
