Quakers Rebuff Bobcats, 5-4
|
Philadelphia Quakers starter Juan Ramirez was in fine form against the Cleveland Bobcats at Quakers Stadium, leading his team to a win, 5-4. Ramirez, now 6-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 4 runs. Bill Kaiser converted his 14th save in 16 tries.
Joe Voss, the 8th overall pick in the 1964 draft, aided the Philadelphia cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman went 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
"We found a way to get it done," Voss said.
The Quakers, at 34-35, sit in 4th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
