Hawks Defeated by Pobladores, 4-3
|
The Los Angeles Pobladores scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Chicago Hawks at San Vicente Park. Los Angeles pitcher Carlos Novoa held his own in the contest. The winning pitcher was Novoa, now 5-2. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Shane Frassrand notched his 2nd save of the season.
Bob Settles had a big 2-run home run for the Pobladores in the bottom of the second inning. With Los Angeles leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a splitter from Kevin Edwards, who is tied for 5th in the ABL in complete games with 3, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Pobladores on top, 4-0.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Novoa.
The Pobladores, now 37-37, have won 5 in a row.
