Hawks Take Nail-Biter Over Seagulls
|
Hyde Park Stadium played host to some high drama.
Chicago catcher Lute Eccles was a significant contributor in his team's 7-6 triumph over the San Francisco Seagulls. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Hawks. Kevin Edwards, now 9-6, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, Eccles hit a sinker from Dan Wood for a run-scoring double. The Hawks, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Took some scratching and clawing," said Eccles. "But we got it done."
With the victory, the Hawks record stands at 33-47.
