San Francisco Shuts Out Chicago Behind Stambaugh, 4-0
|
Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Chicago Hawks as starter Tim Stambaugh shut them out, 4-0, at Hyde Park Stadium. The San Francisco pitcher struck out 3 and walked 0 while allowing 5 hits.
"Stambaugh was good but he wasn't flawless," Chicago manager Mike Flaherty said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from San Francisco, but this is on us."
In 18 starts this season, Stambaugh has picked up 11 wins while suffering 3 losses. He has pitched 138.1 innings, allowed 106 hits, struck out 75 and posted a 1.69 ERA.
