|
The San Diego Captains went down to defeat to Bob Trout and his St. Louis teammates. The final score was 4-2, in favor of the Explorers. Trout, now 10-6, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. St. Louis is 41-50 and San Diego, with the loss, 49-43.
Tom Guinn, who finished 5th in the NBL in triples with 11 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Guinn contributed a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put St. Louis up, 4-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Guinn said after the game.
