Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Bobcats
|
The performance of Greg Clement proved critical in helping Cleveland beat Chicago, 4-2. The Bobcats left fielder was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Cleveland reliever Ivan Rogue, now 7-3. The loser was Marvin Walton. Cleveland, now 45-46, holds down 4th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
Clement had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 fastball from Mark Johnson, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Bobcats a 4-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Clement.
Chicago manager Jeff Placeholder said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
