Fine Socks Hawks in 6-2 Pobladores Win
|
The Los Angeles Pobladores beat the Chicago Hawks, 6-2, at Hyde Park Stadium. John Fine, in particular, was impressive. He went 3-5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Carlos Novoa, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 6. Los Angeles goes to 3-7.
Los Angeles used the clutch hitting of Manuel Castillo to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pobladores ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
When asked about his performance, Fine said, "It probably won't silence the critics."
