Packers Take Tight Tangle
|
The Cincinnati Packers racked up a win at Quakers Stadium, bumping off the Philadelphia Quakers, 3-2, in 11 innings. Dave Pelton, who started for Cincinnati, pitched effectively for his team. With the win, Cincinnati has a record of 39-54. Philadelphia falls to 53-42.
Cincinnati needed the clutch hitting of Glen Bennett to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Packers on top, 3-2. For the game, Bennett had 1 home run and 3 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Exciting game to play in," said Pelton. "Getting the win makes it even better."
