The Atlanta Generals did just enough to sneak past the Detroit Wolverines, 4-3, at Wolverine Field. Atlanta pitcher George Palmer, in particular, had a standout performance. Earning his 3rd save for Atlanta was Ron Cwiklinski. Atlanta is now 39-54. Detroit is 47-47.

Roberto Palacios, who finished 3rd in the ABL in home runs with 30 in 1973, had a direct impact on the outcome. Palacios contributed a bases-clearing triple in the top of the fifth inning to put Atlanta up, 3-2.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Detroit skipper Kurt Peterson, "and it cost us."
