Knickerbockers Walk It Off for 51st Win of Season
|
The New York Knickerbockers beat the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 8-4, at Knickerbocker Stadium. The win was due in part to left fielder Jeff Madsen, who went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. New York has now won 5 games in a row.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Madsen hit a slider from Tom Benson for a grand slam home run. The Knickerbockers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"This place was jumping at the end," Madsen said.
