Underwood Sensational for Bulls
|
The Kansas City Bulls got a magnificent effort from pitcher Bernie Underwood, who kept Washington hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Bulls win at Independence Field. Ray McGuire nailed down his 5th save. Kansas City has now won 3 straight, while the Eagles have lost 3 in a row.
Underwood ran roughshod over the Washington lineup. The right-hander allowed just 4 hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out 8. With the victory, he goes to 8-9 on the season.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Underwood.
