Wolverines Improve to 8-3 with 3-2 Win
|
The Detroit Wolverines got a strong performance from pitcher Larry Black, who stymied the Atlanta offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Wolverine Field. Black picked up the win for Detroit, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Earning his 1st save for Detroit was John Gaylord.
Eddie Taylor, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1962 draft, aided the Detroit cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Taylor. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Atlanta now has a record of 3-8.
