Habitants Clip Empires, 3-2
|
The Montreal Habitants eked out a 3-2 win versus the New York Empires at Queens Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Matt Broughton. He was terrific. Broughton got the win, improving to 6-6. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Broughton allowed 2 runs. With the win, Montreal raised its record to 54-50.
Montreal relied on the hitting of Frank Warnock to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Habitants on top, 3-2. For the game, Warnock had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," New York manager John Harris said following the tough loss.
