San Francisco Topples Twin Cities, 6-3
|
San Francisco and Twin Cities put this game in the books despite some rain.
Jerry Patrick, who is tied for 2nd in the ABL in wins with 12, was locked in. The right-hander led the San Francisco Seagulls to a 6-3 win against the Twin Cities Northmen at Mission Field. Patrick yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 12-5. Archie Sereni closed the game out for San Francisco, earning his 6th save.
Bob Russell had a big 2-run double for the Seagulls in the bottom of the third inning. With San Francisco leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a slider from former first round draft pick Ben Hall and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Seagulls ahead, 4-0.
"Jerry is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
The second-place Seagulls have won 4 straight games.
